WEHONA stands for preserving neighborhood integrity and responsible development. WEHONA supports neighborhoods that are being impacted by irresponsible development. Our goal is to maintain the "urban village" atmosphere of West Hollywood. WEHONA is an organization of concerned citizens committed to providing leadership, education and advocacy to save West Hollywood's diverse historic places, protect our rights as citizens and revitalize our community. Our goal is to create and embrace a neighborhood infrastructure of representatives in order to raise awareness, discover concerns and create a voice for the people to be heard by our elected officials. Our objective is to aid City Hall in creating policies, passing bills and fighting existing State Laws and Acts which do not benefit our community and threaten the rights and homes (whether rented or owned) of our residents. We are for active preservation of our historic buildings and neighborhoods, the creation and support of parks and green space, while supporting responsible development which encourages the growth of our urban neighborhoods without destroying the scale, history and quality of life of West Hollywood residents.

Thanks for taking the time to click on to our site. WEHONA (West Hollywood Neighborhood Alliance) was built out of love and respect for our city and its people. In the few years since WEHONA, the West Hollywood Neighborhood Alliance was founded, great strides have taken place in an effort to preserve and protect our urban village. The tireless effort of dedicated souls has changed our city for the better, and it was not easy to accomplish this progressive change.
Every city in America is fighting this battle, and here in the Creative City, our task should be easier—it isn’t. Political agendas and opportunists stand in the way of progress towards protecting our citizens, renters and homeowners alike from the creeping grasp of overdevelopment.

A Message From The Co-Chair:

WEHONA lead the effort to stop ten story towers from lining Route 66: fought to cut back the size of the misbegotten Sunset Millennium mega-project: fielded three qualified candidates for City Council: fought for Historic Preservation: fought to Save Tara, the embattled home of the cultural collective, The Modern Forum: fought for a moratorium on development, currently in place: fought to stop landlord evictions of rent-controlled units: exposed campaign finance fraud in City Council: aided in Mike Feuer's victorious Assembly campaign: and initiated many other meaningful tasks.
Our work is not finished, and this spirited group of activists needs your help, your time, to continue our struggle, and struggle it is and will be until those in power understand and learn to recognize that they must take into consideration the needs of the people they claim to care for and represent. Otherwise, surely we are lost and WEHO goes from being the Creative City to just Beverly Hills Adjacent. Take the time to lend a hand, drop us an e-mail or give a call to 323-252-7602. Act now!
